Very late to the party, but for several years I've found melodic black metal all too similar and all albums sounding like Dissection, etc... HOWEVER, not only I am back into it but UADA is still a layer of complexity above the main baseline and this is an old album worth having, that's a basic milestone in UADA's discography and I felt it needed to be part of my BC collection.

I was always intrigued by this group's choice of album covers, it isn't every day that you see high quality space photos in this genre despite the rise of "cosmic" black metal. But the music blew me away, this sounds like Austere took the atmospheric spacey route. (I will assume it's a coincidence that both bands are Australian)

Un E.P. qui pourra largement diviser les fans, notamment ceux fermés d'esprit et qui refusent que Mesarthim puisse faire autre chose que du black metal atmosphérique. Presence est en effet l'œuvre dans laquelle le groupe profite le plus de la musique electro, notamment le new age (surtout sur "Eschaton Part I") voire même le synth pop sur le morceau éponyme ; black metal certes, mais une hybridation très prononcée. Si vous accrochez (comme moi), vous passerez clairement un bon moment !
